MOVEMENTS: How 15K reached 7.4M
Hebrews 10:24-
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works…
Whether its geese flying in formation, or buffaloes running toward the storm, we know what it looks like when an individual goose, buffalo, or person, is part of a movement.
Sometimes it is elegant, like geese flying. Other times it is terrifying, like the stampede of a buffalo.
Yet what is clear is that the group is accomplishing something much larger than any one individual can.
It’s more than teamwork (as cool as teamwork is). It goes beyond the organized, it becomes this spontaneous, almost self-fueling, “thing” that has momentum.
Today, at The Pocket Testament League, we are celebrating a movement. In the last 12 months, 15,000 people reached over 7,400,000 people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
That’s almost 500 people reached for each member of the PTL Movement!
This is not a story not about how 1 person reached 500 people for Jesus—we all could find a few folks who are able to do this.
No, this is a story about how 15,000 people individually handed 7,400,000 people a Gospel of John with an encouraging word and prayer, One-to-One.
To get that sort of scale requires The Holy Spirit, and, a simple, repeatable model. Just like flying in a “V” Shape, or “running at the storm” is repeatable…if the model is good enough—it can be a self-fueling Movement.
At The Pocket Testament League the model is to simply offer, to hand to another person, a smart looking Gospel of John—one person to one person.
It’s SIMPLE—but don’t confuse that with EASY. Remember it’s simple to lose weight—calories in versus calories out—simple, just not easy.
To offer a Gospel of John requires some deep character traits:
Belief: Belief in the Power of God’s Word—if you don’t believe that, then you will think you are wasting your time.
Heart: Heart for the lost—if you are not bothered that many will die never hearing the Name of Jesus, or reading His Own Words, then you won’t be drawn to this effort.
Trust: Trust that God is with you—that it is not you alone, but God who is doing the work. God has scheduled Divine Appointments with people who are seeking Him.
Courage: Courage to step out in faith—yes, it is simple, but there are obstacles. In some countries PTL Movement Members face the threat of death, jail, attack, and more. In other countries, the social stigma has silenced many of Jesus’ followers.
It is a One-to-One model…and we when it works, it turns into Won-by-1…the person is Won by “the 1”…Jesus.
